This bill would eliminate birthright citizenship for children born to undocumented immigrants in the U.S. Current U.S. law automatically recognizes any person born on American soil as a natural born citizen. Under the bill, only children with at least one parent who is a U.S. citizen, a legal permanent resident, or an undocumented immigrant serving in the military would be considered citizens.

No other country has this law and we SHOULD get rid of it. It had a very good purpose in it’s time and was meant to be temporary. Just like Social Security was supposed to be temporary. THIS IS a GOOD move. It’s maybe the only decent part of the bill. The ONLY reason we allow(ed) births on American soil to be AUTOMATIC U.S. citizens, is the fear Congress had that children of Black Americans would not be seen as being U.S. citizens in the South and in many Northern states during slavery. This was meant to be in effect only until ALL states instituted Black America as 100% citizen. Some states granted black people 1/5, 2/5 or 0% citizenship at that time, and thus their vote also counted for as much and was completely immoral and unconstitutional. A land of equal men cannot have people with partial citizenship. This law solved that issue for all future generations of black America. Since this law has fully done it’s intended purpose, the need for this law expired decades ago. This law was never intended for ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS, until it became convenient for lawyers and the ACLU to abuse it. It was meant for freed ex-slaves and free black people who were mostly forced upon our land. I am going to have to say this is LONG OVERDUE to be taken out of our laws. It has been an immigration enforcement disaster. It did make perfect sense when many people refused to recognize black people as their equals.
